The Texas Legislature recently passed House Bill 1481, which requires all public school districts to prohibit student use of wireless communications during the school day.
HISD’s existing guidelines for campuses already place a limit on cell phone use during the school day to help minimize distractions and keep the focus on learning. We are still waiting on the new guidelines from the Texas Education Agency, and HISD will work to ensure our practices align with the new law.

Sharpstown High School implemented a new weapons detection system which aims to quickly and efficiently screen students and visitors for weapons.
